Goal: Deliver critical, time-sensitive, and relevant news/alerts in a digestible format.

How it’s architected.
The goal is to deliver important information in a digestible format. With this in mind, I built the layout of this app to accommodate a range of user attention spans: from the casual digester to the safety research nerd. On the home screen, casual users can digest all the information that is tailored and relevant to them in the form of urgent product recalls, health and safety articles, and even local offers.

How I made it simple.
Government feeds and content are not known to be user friendly; an even bigger problem is that the alerts are not intuitively grouped. We created a system that groups alerts into more recognizable terms like product recalls, weather emergencies, outbreaks, travel notices, and more. I designed this tab to give the ‘safety research nerd’ a place to really dive deep through quick filtering.

Making it fun.
One challenge I found myself dealing with was: how do you KEEP people interested in safety alerts? The answer is… make it rewarding. The 'Offers’ tab gently reminds people about how much they can save through the app. Many of the offers are location-based and are unlocked by scanning or manually adding products, food, cars, and more into their ‘watchlist’.
